Tasting Room Associate

Report:  Regional Tasting Room Manager
Location: Woodinville, Washington
Hourly:  +$17/hr+ base rate (adjusted with experience), tips, Medical and Dental, and employee discounts on food and wine, optional 401(k)   

Status:
Full-time  or part-time with wine and discounts, as well as paid continued wine education opportunities.

The Tasting Room Associate will work with Regional Tasting Room Manager to create an exceptional customer experience. The successful candidate will be proficient in retail wine sales, club conversion, and club acquisition. This person must promote a company culture that encourages integrity, positive results, excellence, an attitude of servitude, and sustainability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Meet/Exceed Sales Goals
• Increase average sales per visitor
• Upsell guests from the main bar into elevated tasting experiences
• Increase customer acquisition
• Hit monthly Wine membership member acquisition goals
• Name/email capture
• Maintain member satisfaction & retention rate
• Drive visitorship and traffic
• Customer satisfaction and loyalty
• Elevate customer wine knowledge of wine, winemaking, and vineyard operation.
• Maintain a neat tasting room at all times, inventory & vendor management
• Be an advocate for Rocky Pond within the community

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 21 years of age
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• College degree in retail/business management or hospitality, or equivalent experience preferred
• Must hold a valid driver’s license
• Must be available to work weekends, special events, and holidays
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Superior customer service skills and service driven
• Friendly, positive, and professional disposition when dealing with guests, vendors, and team members
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task, follow up and work in a fast-paced environment under pressure and strong attention to detail
• Pro-active and thorough in completing existing tasks and pursuing new assignments
• Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
• Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and adherence to all safety regulations and operating procedures
• Maintain a professional appearance at all times
• Enthusiasm for wine and interest in expanding expertise

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to frequently lift and carry weights of up to 40 pounds at varying frequencies
• Ability to operate various types of machinery including, but not limited to, lifttrucks, hand trucks, dishwashers, etc.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting
• Ability to stand for long periods of time

Sous Chef

Report:  Director of Culinary

Create culinary-focused wine pairings and menus for special member events and dinners. You will work alongside seasoned industry professionals and learn how a winery tasting room operates. Rocky Pond’s Sous Chef will oversee the daily culinary operations in Woodinville and support tasting room personnel and sales initiatives. This includes adequate and cost-effective ordering of the ingredients, preparation of food items, delivery of food items in a timely and personable manner, and training of tasting room personnel. Candidate must be detailed oriented, enthusiastic, and passionate about health and sustainable farming. Must be a team player and enjoy interacting with guests to provide an exceptional, high-touch, experience. Required to promote a company culture that encourages integrity, positive results, excellence, an attitude of servitude, and sustainability.

Responsibilities:
· Be proficient in estimating food consumption and costs.
· Adhere to presentation techniques and quality standards.
· Ability to offer culinary instruction and/or demonstrate culinary techniques at company events.
· Responsibly maintain and repair all kitchen-related equipment.
· Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal food sanitation regulations.
· Handle food, and train kitchen personnel, in a manner that is consistent with local health department guidelines.
· Ensure safety regulations, reports injuries, and maintain safe conditions and work practices.

Requirements:
· Must have at least 5+ years of experience.
· Possess extensive understanding a professional kitchen use and workflow.
· Ability to plan, organize and direct the activities of kitchen staff effectively.
· Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
· Fundamental understanding of sanitation, cleanliness, and personal hygiene.
· Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
· Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and time management skills.
· Requires moderate physical efforts: standing, carrying, bending, stretching, stooping, pulling and pushing, and lifting of weights up to 50 pounds.
· Working conditions involve noise, heat, changes in temperature, kitchen elements, odors, moisture, etc.
· May be required to work additional hours as dictated by the workload

Harvest Cellar Intern

Report:  Winemaker 

Location: Orondo, Washington

Hourly:  $17.50/hr+ DOE, eligible for overtime pay per Washington state law, and shared on-property housing

Status: Temporary Position (Seasonal)

Rocky Pond Estate Winery is a boutique winery located in the Rocky Reach AVA of Washington state’s Columbia Valley. The estate vineyards flanking the Columbia River and Lake Chelan yield a portfolio of elegant, nuanced, and vineyard-driven wines, specializing in Rhone and Bordeaux varietals. To showcase the unique terroir of each vineyard, Rocky Pond employs state-of-the-art processing equipment, innovative cap management strategies, and low-intervention winemaking techniques.

Cellar interns will have the opportunity to assist our small but passionate and experienced team with all aspects of vinification. This includes but is not limited to fruit processing, fermentation management, barrel work, sanitation, and occasional lab analysis. Interns will have a chance to work directly with winemaker, Elizabeth Keyser. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Must be able to climb ladders
  • Must be willing to work long hours (10-12hrs), including weekends
  • Must be willing to work in variable weather conditions
  • Ability to follow directions verbally and written
  • Ability to read and interpret relevant documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to work on a team as well as independently

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED required, AAS or BS with a concentration in Enology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or Fermentation Sciences a plus
  • Prior Harvest Experience is a plus, but not required

Successful candidates will receive on-property intern housing within walking distance of the winery and should anticipate working mid-September through mid-December (actual start and end dates will be dependent on the growing season and confirmed prior to onboarding).
