The Vineyard
Tumbled Granite gives voice to the vines, unearthing and translating each growing season.
The guiding practices of our viticulture program include: Our recent efforts have gone towards implementing meticulous canopy management techniques at both sites to elevate the quality of our grapes even further, and the reward is evident in these exquisite creations. By focusing our efforts on low-vigor vines, we were able to produce high-concentrated fruit which allowed the grape to build elegant flavor, texture, and richness. All our grapes are hand-harvested and are SustainableWA and Salmon Safe certified to ensure they are handled with the utmost care and adhere to the highest sustainable farming practices in Washington state.
It is these extra steps, dedication, and care that make exceptional wine, and we would not want to do it any other way.
The Connection
Tumbled Granite is an homage to the soil and landscape that our vines take root in.
In 2013 the Dufenhorst family found a powerful stretch of land – that would become the flagship DD vineyard, in the heart of WA’s Rocky Reach AVA – covered in sage brush, on the flanks of the mighty Columbia River, and envisioned a future for an utterly unique winegrowing region.
In the decade since planting the DD vineyard, our knowledge of this land has deepened, and ultimately inspired a new endeavor: Tumbled Granite.

Hand harvesting, hand sorting, gentle whole cluster pressing, barrel fermentation and aging on lees to create more texture, richness, and complexity; winemaker barrel selection.
