“Vine to Wine” took a long look at Rocky Pond Winery back in December, and liked what they saw!
Founded in 2014, Rocky Pond’s wine making production is led by Ron Bunnell of Bunnell Family Cellar. Well known in the industry, he has more than 25 years of experience making wine in California and Washington and has worked with prominent winemakers in France and Italy.
“We knew when we first saw our Columbia River site, we had found both an ideal location for our world class grapes and a home for our family,” says David. “The peaceful beauty of our vineyards overlooking Lake Chelan and the Columbia River fueled our dedication to create wine that inspires. Michelle and I really look at wine as something that brings people together, whether it is family, friends or colleagues — and that’s one of the biggest reasons we started the winery.”
Although a “new kid on the block,” Rocky Pond has been a big winner at the Seattle Wine Awards. In 2016 the winery took home a Gold Medal for the 2014 Stratastone Red Blend, and Double Golds for the 2014 Clos CheValle Syrah and 2014 Viognier. They also were honored with a Double Gold and two Golds in 2015.
